Support our Youth Reporters

There are limited opportunities on Maui for young people to receive free digital media training. Additionally, employment is limited in most media related fields.  Akaku provides FREE training and mentor programs to allow Maui youth experience and development in a STEM related field.

Your support of AYME Youth Reporters can help them prepare for a career in media and technology! Do you have an event that you want to share with the community? AYME Youth Reporters can cover your story through our ʻMatchʻ program!

AYME Youth Reporters are on call to use their skills acquired from Akakus media program, YBEAM . Akaku facilitates an AYME Youth Reporter to cover your community story in a three minute (or less) video on an all mobile platform.  These stories will air on Akaku cable channel 55, this website, and on Videos published online can be shared through Facebook, twitter, etc.

We offer the community an opportunity to support Maui Youth through a matching program- with a $50 donation. Akaku then matches the $50 donation so the AYME Youth Reporter receives a $100 stipend, averaging at $10/ hr. Akaku Provides transportation, mentor supervision, and a meal to the youth reporter.

If you are interested in supporting a youth-produced story regarding your organization, please contact us at for more information!

Since 2013, AYME Youth Reporters have produced videos for over 50 community organizations and dozens of events! Mahalo to the following individuals, organizations, and community events for supporting Maui youth!
