Akaku Youth Media Exchange
On October 8, 2017, the island of Molokai hosted the annual Molokai Hoe. The Molokai Hoe is a canoe race from Molokai to Oahu, which has been happening since 1952. AYME reporter Kale Kamai was there and got the story.
The Hana Festivals of Aloha opened on Saturday October 7th with a community parade, pau riders, keiki aloha attire contest and a theatrical play by Hana Arts! Akaku Youth Media Exchange reporter, Kawai Kapuni, attends to document the activities!

A new program launches for older youth interested in the Performing Arts, Cross Currents. Partnering with the Boys and Girls Club in Kahului, youth were exposed to and participated in the Arts for three weeks with accomplished artists. AYME reporter, Dillon Jonke, gets the story.
Maui Time and HMSA hosts a unique family friendly 5k run through the Queen Kaahumanu Center to celebrate the magazines 20th year! All proceeds went to the Paia Youth & Cultural Center.
